Birds Ferry Lodge

The lodge is seamlessly set upon a hilltop surrounded by acres of wild bush clad countryside. Purpose built on the edge of a glacial terrace, the lodge is the centre piece of a 33 acre property. Visitors can enjoy the spacious guest lounge with comfy leather upholstery and a roaring log fire in front of the huge windows. The library is stocked with a selection of magazines and books with something to interest most. There is also a supply of board games and puzzles for a day indoors. The semi-remote, rural location means that the wildlife is in abundance. The native Weka visits the garden and at night the call of the Kiwi has been heard. Wild deer have been spotted from the deck and whilst enjoying the spa after dark guests are kept company by a local Common Owl who rests on the back of the chair right beside them! Tui and Bellbirds also visit the well stocked bird table. The Totara Valley Room has West Coast views as a feature, capturing valley and ocean vistas - sunset, garden or forest views. It has ensuite facilities with power shower over bath and hand made toiletries. The Grand View Room has a balcony from which guests will enjoy panoramic views of the ocean, up the length of the Totara Valley to the Paparoa Ranges in the east. The room is indulgently appointed with quality linens and a large ensuite with bath, power shower and hand made toiletries. Ferry Man's Cottage is set in it's own private 12 acre section at the very end of Birds Ferry Road and is the perfect spot for a romantic weekend break or a family holiday. Located on the edge of a small lake, the solid timber cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and two large bedrooms as well as a wide selection of indoor and outdoor games plus DVDs. The cottage has decks and outdoor furniture back and front, meaning you can enjoy the sunshine at any time of the day.
